Florida Governor’s Action Team on Energy and Climate Change

Technical Work Groups

After submitting the Phase One report on November 1, 2007, the Action Team began Phase Two of the process, which included a facilitated stakeholder process conducted by the Center for Climate Strategies. The Action Team evaluated long-term public policies focused on reducing greenhouse gases while stimulating economic development of alternative energies in Florida.

The Action Team, with the Center for Climate Strategies, formed six Technical Work Groups (TWGs) to explore long-term public policies focused on reducing greenhouse gases while stimulating economic development of alternative energies in Florida. The topics explored by the TWGs included exploring carbon capture and storage technologies, university- based research and technology development, pursuing energy independence through domestic alternative energy sources, protecting Florida’s environment and natural resources, and planning for growth management and transportation. The six TWGs were cap and trade design; energy supply and demand; transportation and land use; agriculture, forestry and waste; government policy; and adaptation. Each provided recommendations for consideration by the Action Team for the Phase Two report.
