Florida’s Hydrogen Program: H2 Florida

Hydrogen is the most abundant element on earth. It exists in the air we breathe, water we drink and fuels we use in our vehicles. Using hydrogen as a fuel decreases America’s dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels and is a clean source of energy.

In July 2003, the state of Florida launched “H2 Florida,” a statewide program to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen technologies. The H2 Florida program was started to spur investment in Florida’s economy, increase economic security, reduce reliance on foreign oil and to maintain Florida’s clean air.  H2 Florida partners the State with industry, local governments and universities to showcase hydrogen technologies and educate consumers on the newest hi-tech approach to clean, sustainable energy.
