The Bureau of Survey
& Mapping is responsible for the determination of land and water
boundaries, and for land title of property vested in the Board of Trustees of
the Internal Improvement Trust Fund.
Performs survey and mapping services for P2000/Florida Forever and other
agency addition and inholding programs.
Performs reviews for the acquisition and sale of state lands. Provides survey and geographic data for the
Land Boundary Information System (LABINS). Provides for the collection of
digital and graphical data for the US Geological Survey (USGS) Mapping
Program. Provides water level and
meteorological collection and geodetic control data. Maintains a public lands inventory. Provides surveys and maps of state owned lands that have not been
surveyed or mapped in the past in order to clear up boundary issues. Performs identification, restoration and
preservation of the controlling corner monuments established during the
original cadastral surveys related to the Restoration of Corners Act (F.S. 177
Part III).Locates the mean high water
line as recognized in the State Constitution as the boundary between state
sovereignty land and uplands subject to private ownership for the Coastal
Mapping Act (F.S. 177 Part II).
Provides liaison and technical assistance via a cooperative agreement
between DEP the National Ocean Service (NOS)/National Geodetic Survey and the
public.
