RV
Resort at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park Receives National
Honors
Tallahassee
-- The Recreational Vehicle Resort at Topsail Hill Preserve
State Park was recently awarded the highest honors for
exceptional service and outstanding facilities from two of
the nation’s most prestigious campground directories – Woodall’s
and Trailer Life – putting them in the top 1
percent of RV parks in the nation.
"I am extremely
proud of the park staff who took over a very successful
private ownership/operation and not only maintained the level
of service, but as indicated by these ratings by Woodall’s
and Trailer Life, took the park to a new level of
excellence. This recognition confirms our status as the
‘Best Park System’ in the United States," said Fran
Mainella, Director of DEP’s Division of Recreation and
Parks.
Woodall’s
awarded the RV resort with its highest possible rating --
5W/5W. Rankings, which range from 1W – 5 W, are given
separately for recreational value and for facilities such as
roads, rest rooms and hook-ups.
Trailer Life,
which also publishes a national monthly magazine for
recreational vehicle enthusiasts, gave the resort the highest
rating in the industry -- 10/10/10. Based on a scale from 1
to 10, the numbers indicate ratings for three categories:
completeness and quality of facilities, cleanliness and
physical characteristics of restrooms and showers, as well as
visual appeal and environmental quality.
Located in Santa
Rosa Beach 10 miles east of Destin, Topsail Hill Preserve
State Park was acquired in 1992 under Preservation 2000,
Florida’s land acquisitions program. In 1998, the Gregory
E. Moore RV Resort was purchased. Today, the park encompasses
1,640 acres and provides RV camping at 156 campsites.
