Operation Cleansweep will accept and dispose only
canceled, suspended and unusable pesticides. Pesticides that are
still usable should be used.
A pesticide is any substance or mixture of
substances to prevent, destroy, repel, or mitigate any pest. Pests
can be insects, mice and other animals, weeds, fungi, or
microorganisms like bacteria and viruses. Besides insecticides,
pesticides include herbicides, fungicides, rodenticides, miticides
and various other substances used to control pests
Fertilizers, nutritionals, animal medicines and
biological control agents will not be accepted. Pesticides in gas
cylinders are not being accepted at this time either. Pesticides
in aerosol cans, however, will be accepted. Paint, batteries, and
other hazardous wastes will not be accepted: contact your county
solid waste department for information on disposal of these
hazardous wastes.
